William Hill will be offering betting on the colour of the
Queens Hat at Royal Ascot Ladies Day, 2009

ANOTHER HAT GAMBLE IS LANDED
Yet again, Royal punters are toasting Her Majesty the Queen as the Monarch landed a gamble for her supporters when wearing a predominantly white hat on Ladies Day at Royal Ascot.
With a white hat backed in from 20-1 to 10-1 with bookies William Hill yesterday, the punters were a step a-head in predicting The Queens choice a full 24 hours before Ladies Day.
William Hill spokeswoman Jennie Prest said, "we struck a number of three figure bets in a short space of time on Wednesday afternoon and are now facing a decent payout. It's the third time in five years that royal followers have guessed right and landed a touch on this event!"
"Some punters appear to have a crystal ball when it comes to The Queens choice of hat. The alarm bells start ringing when we get a lot of demand for one particular colour, we were being deafened yesterday and we have been left quite white in the face from being caught out yet again."

Camille Roman's black crochet lace hat has won the inaugural 'Who Wants To Be A Millin-aire' competition, announced at Royal Ascot today.
Her creation was a unanimous decision for the judges who were impressed with the originality of the style as well as the skill that had gone in to making the intricate lace design.
Camille, a professional milliner from London, beat over 500 entries made in to the Royal Ascot competition, organized by website queens-hat.com.
7 shortlisted entries were invited to Ascot for the judges to make the final decision, with amateur designer Jon Harvy Santos taking the runner up spot with his black and white fascinator.
The judges, Hollywood actress Emma Samms, milliner and Britain's Next Top Model judge Louis Mariette, Ascot Tv's milliner Yvette Jelfs and John Lewis's millinery buyer Anna Bray were very impressed with all the finalists but 25 year old Camille's hat shone through. All the finalists hats will be available in John Lewis's Oxford Street store for a limited time.
Also present was Vladimir Stratciuc, whose blue voile and butterfly design won the special category of 'Best Design Inspired By the Starlight Children's Foundation. Modelled by Starlight's founder and Milli-naire judge Emma Samms the hat will now be available for the public to bid for in an online silent auction via www.queens-hat.com with all the money raised going directly to the charity.

Pink was the colour of the day for The Queen on Wednesday, so the punters who have been putting their cash down on green being the colour tomorrow are still hopeful that the gamble will be realised.
While green the 7-4 favourite for Ladies' Day, bookies William Hill also report a rush of money this morning for a white hat tomorrow and have trimmed the price from 20-1 to 10-1.
Hills spokeswoman Jennie Prest said, "We were beginning to feel a bit 'green' ourselves with the idea of paying out on the favourite, but the support for white has given us hope that the punters aren't a step a-head of us."
White might seem an usual colour for Her Majesty to pick, but she did wear a white hat on Ladies Day back in 2004.
Thursday - Colour of the Queens Hat on Ladies Day

With Her Majesty resplendent in a yellow hat in the sunshine at Royal Ascot today, bookies William Hill have knocked the shade out from second favourite in their betting for Ladies Day, with green heading the betting at 2-1.
William Hill spokeswoman Jennie Prest said: "Those who have piled their money on green for Thursday will be glad to see a yellow hat today. It is unlikely that she will choose yellow again for Thursday and that is now a 12-1 shot."

All eyes will be on Her Majesty at next week's Royal Ascot Festival, where bookmakers William Hill are offering betting on the colour of the Queen's hat on Ladies' Day.
The betting giants - official bookmakers to Royal Ascot fashion offer 4/1 that the Country's sovereign wears yellow next Thursday, and 5-1 that purple adorns the Royal crown. Hills have shortened the odds of 'Blue' to 6-1 from 7-1 in anticipation of another repeat.
Jennie Prest, spokeswoman for William Hill, commented: "In a complete turn-around of events, the Queen has broken tradition and worn the same colour two years in a row to the Trooping of the Colour. Seeing as blue was Her Majesty's choice on Ladies' Day last year, we won't take any risks that she might stun us again, and have shortened up the odds of another royal repeat."

In a shock repetition of last year's Trooping of the Colour Ceremony,
the Queen this year opted again for the fashionable shade of turquoise for
her outfit.
Bookies William Hill were offering 10/1 yesterday about Turquoise being the chosen colour for her hat - but were bowled over for blue, as punters backed the Royal shade to be Her Majesty's selection.
The Queen, wearing the fetching shade of turquoise, travelled by carriage up the length of The Mall before saluting the troops in the traditional birthday celebration.
